Sun, salt and a season of bare feet turn teak silver-grey and leave the soft grain open to dirt. Underneath, the wood is usually sound. Restoration brings it back: a deep clean, a light sanding to fresh timber and repairs to the plugs and seams that have started to let go.
We do this work afloat, at your berth, so the boat is ready when the season starts. We take off only as much wood as we have to, because every sanding uses up thickness you can't put back.
Wood shows wear long before it fails. These are the signs we look for on an inspection: tick the ones you recognise and they go into your message, so we know where to start.

IIIThe boat's model and where it's berthed
Photos are enough for a first opinion, before anyone comes to the boat.
We check slat thickness, plugs and seams, and tell you honestly whether the deck needs restoring or something more.
02 / 04
Deep clean
Dirt, growth and grey surface fibres are cleaned out across the grain, without a pressure washer.
03 / 04
Sanding and repairs
A light sanding back to fresh teak, with loose plugs and failed sections of seam replaced as we go.
04 / 04
Protection and handover
A protective treatment for the season ahead, and advice on washing the deck so it stays that way.
Where it's done
Restored at your berth, before the season starts.
Restoration is done on board while the boat stays in the water or on its dry berth. We bring the cleaning and sanding gear to your marina, so the deck is ready when you are.
Straight answers to what owners ask us most. If yours isn't here, ask us directly.
01How often does a teak deck need restoring?
It depends on how the boat is used and how the deck is washed. A deck that is washed gently and regularly can go several seasons between restorations; one that is scrubbed hard needs attention sooner. We would rather sand rarely and lightly.
02Can you do it while the boat is in the water?
Yes. Restoration is done afloat at your berth, in marinas from Zadar to Dubrovnik, and further north by arrangement.
03Will sanding make my deck too thin?
Every sanding removes some wood, so we measure the remaining thickness first and take off only what is needed. If the slats are already too thin, we will say so and suggest replacing just those slats.
04How much does teak deck restoration cost?
It depends on the area of the deck, how weathered it is and how many plugs and seams need repair. After the inspection you get a written quote with the full price, so you know the cost before we start.
05Why has my teak deck gone grey?
Sun and salt break down the surface fibres of the wood and turn them silver-grey. It looks tired, but underneath the wood is usually sound, and a deep clean and light sanding bring the colour back.
06How should I clean a teak deck?
Gently and often: plenty of water, a soft brush and strokes across the grain, never along it. Avoid pressure washers and stiff brushes, which tear out the soft wood and wear the deck thin.
07When should I book pre-season teak restoration?
Well before the season. October to May is our busiest time, so get in touch early and the boat will be ready when you want to sail.
