When the slats are worn thin, fixings are showing and repairs no longer hold, it is time for a new deck. We remove the old teak and its fixings, repair and prepare the substrate, and build a new natural teak deck from templates taken off your vessel.
Every slat is cut to measure, with margin boards and details laid out to follow the lines of the boat. The slats are prepared in our workshop in Split, and the deck is laid, caulked and finished on the boat, at its berth or on a dry berth.
Wood shows wear long before it fails. These are the signs we look for on an inspection: tick the ones you recognise and they go into your message, so we know where to start.

IIIThe boat's model and where it's berthed
Photos are enough for a first opinion, before anyone comes to the boat.
We template the deck and agree the layout: slat width, margin boards, borders and details.

Remove the old deck
Old teak, fixings and adhesive come off carefully, and the substrate is repaired and prepared.
03 / 04
Lay the new teak
Slats cut to your templates are bonded down, and then the seams are caulked.

Sand and finish
The deck is sanded level, detailed around every fitting and handed over ready for the season.
Where it's done
Templated on board, made up in Split, laid at your berth.
We take the old deck off and template the new one on the boat, cut and prepare the teak in our workshop in Split, then come back to lay it where the boat lies.

Our marine carpentry workshop in Split
In our own workshop in Split we make everything that doesn't have to be built on board: synthetic teak panels, passerelles, handrails and wooden accessories. Boats don't come here, but you are welcome to drop by, see samples and talk the job through.

FAQ
What owners ask us most
Straight answers to what owners ask us most. If yours isn't here, ask us directly.
01How long does a new teak deck take?
It depends on the size of the deck and the state of the substrate underneath. After the inspection you get a written quote with the materials, price and deadline.
02Do I have to move the boat anywhere?
No. The new deck is laid on the boat, at its berth or on a dry berth, and the slats are cut in our workshop. Removing a deck leaves the substrate exposed, and bonding and caulking need dry conditions, so we plan the work around the weather.
03Natural or synthetic teak?
Natural teak is the classic choice: comfortable underfoot, and it can be sanded and restored. Synthetic teak (EVO Decking) needs less upkeep. We fit both and will help you choose based on the boat and how you use it.
04How much does a new teak deck cost?
It depends on the size and shape of the deck, the state of the substrate and the layout you choose. After the inspection you get a written quote with the price, materials and deadline, so the full cost is clear before we start.
05When does a teak deck need replacing rather than restoring?
When the slats are worn thin, the fixings are showing through and repairs no longer hold. Up to that point restoration or replacing individual slats is usually the better value.
06What happens to the substrate under the old deck?
Once the old teak and its fixings are off, we repair and prepare the substrate so the new deck has a sound, clean base to be laid on.
07Can the new deck follow the lines of my boat?
Yes. Every slat is cut to measure from templates taken off your vessel, with margin boards and details laid out to follow the lines of the boat.
