About us · Split

Marine carpenters from Split who never stop learning.

Nuir is a small marine carpentry workshop in Split. We lay synthetic and natural teak decks, build passerelles and make exterior woodwork for sailboats, catamarans and yachts across Dalmatia.

The name

A name that doubles as a rule.

NUIR is short for “Neprestano uči i rasti” — Croatian for “never stop learning and growing”. It is less a slogan than the way we work: every deck teaches us something, and the next one is better for it.

How we work

Three rules we don't bend.

Good woodwork is only half the job. These three rules are the other half.

  1. No subcontractors on any job. The people who measure your deck are the ones who build it, fit it and hand it over.

  2. You get the price, the materials and an estimated timeline in writing before any work begins.

  3. We stand behind our work. If we get something wrong, we come back and put it right.

Team

Meet the team

The people behind every deck and every handrail.

We run every project ourselves, with no subcontractors: the same people who measure your deck build it, fit it and hand it over. That's how we know every slat, every seam and every coat of varnish.

  • Mislav, founder of Nuir, in a white polo shirt with his arms crossed

    Mislav

    Founder and marine carpenter

He turned a love of wood and the sea into a trade. He lays natural and synthetic teak on boats and yachts, and builds passerelles, steps, handrails, tables and other wooden pieces to measure. He runs every job himself, from the first measurement to the last coat of varnish.

  • Roko, marine carpenter at Nuir, in a white polo shirt with his arms crossed

    Roko

    Marine carpenter

He has an eye for detail and the steady hand that work on a boat asks for. He makes sure every teak slat sits exactly where it should and every joint is clean and built to last. New deck, repair, sanding or varnishing, he works as if the boat were his own.

Who we work for

Private owners, charter fleets and marinas.

Different boats, different schedules. The same two carpenters every time, with no outside contractors: the people who measure your boat are the people who work on it, and you get a written quote before we start.

  • Private owners

From one tired seam to a whole new deck, on the boat you sail every summer.

  • Owners abroad

Your boat is in Dalmatia and you aren't. One message and a written quote get the job started.

  • Charter fleets

Pre-season teak preparation and repairs, planned around the season and your bookings.

  • Marinas

Teak and joinery for the boats in your care, from one team you can call directly.

FAQ

A few things people ask about us.

Who we are, where we are and how we work.

What does Nuir mean?

It's short for “Neprestano uči i rasti”, Croatian for “never stop learning and growing”. It's the rule we work by: every deck teaches us something, and the next one is better for it.

What does a marine carpenter do?

A marine carpenter builds and repairs the wood on a boat: teak decks, seams, passerelles, handrails, trim and fittings. It differs from carpentry ashore because everything has to live with salt, sun, water and a hull that moves, and has to fit curves rather than straight walls.

Where is your workshop?

At Lovrinačka 63 in Split. It is a 150 m² workshop for fabrication, where we make synthetic teak panels, cut teak slats and build passerelles and handrails. The boats themselves are worked on at their berth.

Can I visit your workshop?

Yes. Boats don't come to the workshop, but you are welcome to drop by, see samples and talk the job through. Let us know before you come.

What materials do you work with?

Natural teak for restoration, slat replacement and new decks; iroko, mahogany and oak for passerelles, handrails and trim; and EVO Decking synthetic teak, which we are certified to install.

Why don't you use subcontractors?

Because that's how we know every slat, every seam and every coat of varnish. The people who measure your boat are the people who build, fit and hand over the work, so nothing gets lost between teams.

Will I deal with the same people throughout?

Yes. There are two of us and no subcontractors, so the people you talk to at the start are the ones who measure, build and hand over.

Who do you work for?

Private and foreign boat owners, charter fleets and marinas, on vessels across Dalmatia.
